St Gabriel’s is a rapidly transforming School. We place Christ at the centre of all we do and promote the values of strength, service and success.
Having previously had a long-standing reputation as an outstanding school, we received an inadequate Section 5 Ofsted judgement in Feb 2019. Since this time, a new experienced Head has supported the school to transform. St Gabriel’s results are now back to their excellent previous standards. In summer 2021, 90% of students secured a 9-4 in Maths and 93% secured a 9-4 in English. At the higher end, 30% of our students achieved at least 3 grades 9-7 in their GCSEs. Ofsted visited us prior to these results in 2020 and the report was overwhelmingly positive.
St Gabriel’s has amazing opportunities for staff. A comprehensive CPD schedule is in place, which focuses upon securing outstanding teaching. Our Head Teacher, Miss Corrigan, was a former Senior University Lecturer in Education and our Quality of Education team include our Deputy Head, formerly employed at one of the highest achieving schools in the country, an Assistant Head and an Associate Assistant Head, both former leaders of outstanding departments and experienced in coaching and mentoring.
In addition to school CPD, we have many staff completing NPQML, NPQSL and NPQH. We have also enrolled all our middle leaders on the Catholic Middle Leadership Development Programme, so opportunities are promoted here at St Gabriel’s and we are a very outward facing School.
What sets St Gabriel’s apart from other Schools?
We are a family and we work as a team. The transformation of school can be credited to all staff and there is a strong sense of pride in our profession here at St Gabriel’s. Many generations of families have been through school and we are over-subscribed every year. Many staff also send their children to us, which is a testament to the faith they have in us.
Students in St Gabriel’s uniform can be seen coming and going throughout Bury and we have overwhelming support for school from their families, many of whom have nothing but praise for our long standing members of staff and the direction which school is moving in.
We all support one another and we do have regular staff social events, so if you are moving to the area, you won’t be alone!

The position is temporary until 31 August 2022 in the first instance.

6.30am to 8.30am (10 hours per week) £4,954

and / or

3.00pm to 5.30pm (12.5 hours per week) £6,192

The primary purpose of a invigilator is to supervise pupils undertaking school examinations in accordance with legal and school requirements. The role of the invigilator requires standing and occasional walking to be able to oversee the candidates
